Merifos ltr
Merifos 480 EC is a powerful broad-spectrum insecticide widely used in agriculture to control a variety of crop pests. It is commonly applied on crops such as tomatoes, maize, bananas, beans, and other vegetables to protect them from insect damage and improve overall yield. The insecticide contains chlorpyrifos as its active ingredient, making it highly effective against both above-ground and soil-dwelling pests.
One of the key strengths of Merifos is its ability to control a wide range of insects. It is effective against pests such as aphids, caterpillars, beetles, termites, weevils, leaf miners, and borers. These pests can cause serious damage to crops by feeding on leaves, stems, roots, or fruits, leading to reduced productivity. By eliminating these insects, Merifos helps farmers maintain healthy crops and achieve better harvests.
Merifos works through both contact and stomach action. This means that it kills insects when it comes into direct contact with them during spraying, and also when they feed on treated plant surfaces. Because of this dual action, it is important to apply the insecticide thoroughly, ensuring that all parts of the plant, including the underside of leaves and the base of the plant, are well covered. This ensures that hidden pests are also reached and controlled effectively.
In terms of application, Merifos is usually mixed with water and sprayed using a knapsack sprayer. A common recommendation is to mix about 30 to 40 milliliters of the insecticide in 20 liters of water for most vegetable crops. Spraying is best done in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler and wind is minimal, as this improves effectiveness and reduces chemical loss.
